Prue Kane

Prue is the Urban Lead at WAI Wānaka – a role which she was drawn to for the organisations whole-of-ecosystem approach to their work. Prue grew up on a local farm, instilling in her a passion for the rural sector, our local community, and the environment in which we live.

She has a BCom and BSc from Otago University. She led WAI’s successful Jobs for Nature programme which employed 75 people to deliver over 47,000 hours of on-farm environmental support to the region in its 3-year term. Prue heads up WAI’s work with EAS (Environmental Accounting Services) and the local community to develop a catchment wide monitoring system for key environmental and social indicators across both rural and urban areas. This is a community-led initiative to monitor the long-term impact of community efforts and guide environmental investment in the future.
