Join Sam the Trap Man on Sunday 15 March for an immersive guided walk in a beautiful native forest of our region. The exact location will be confirmed once official access has been granted, but please expect to drive approximately 50 minutes one way from Wānaka.
This gentle track blends nature discovery with insights into bush foods and survival skills. Sam will point out edible plants, shoots and berries found in the wild, explain their traditional uses, and share stories from years spent in the ngahere native forest. You’ll learn about the relationships between plants, birds and insects, seasonal cues in the forest, and practical bushcraft skills to help you connect with the land, all while observing sustainably within a protected natural area.
Limited places ensure a small group experience, making it easy to ask questions, engage in conversation, and enjoy hands on learning. Whether you’re curious about bush foods, local ecology, or simply love a good story in the outdoors, this walk offers a chance to experience the forest and its gifts with fresh eyes. A rare occasion not to miss! Kids under 18 come for free but must be accompanied by a parent, and must still register.
Please note an identical walk is scheduled to start at 9am on the same day, at the same location.
