Andrés Roa Concha
A Chartered Professional Engineer and International Professional Engineer with over 25 years’ experience, Andrés has particular expertise in water-sensitive design (WSD), sustainable stormwater management and the integration of engineering with natural systems.
A key focus throughout his career has been designing and delivering infrastructure that goes beyond traditional engineering outcomes to help create high-quality, resilient and nature-positive communities.
His experience includes leading and contributing to innovative land development and infrastructure projects throughout New Zealand, including Kirimoko Park in Wānaka, where water-sensitive and sustainable design principles have been integrated into the development of the community. He has also advised councils and reviewed major infrastructure projects throughout New Zealand, bringing a strong focus on practical, robust and environmentally responsive outcomes.
Andrés joined Woods in 2024 as General Manager – Local Government following Woods’ acquisition of AR & Associates Ltd, the engineering consultancy he founded in 2003 and grew to more than 20 staff across New Zealand.
Andrés is an active contributor to the advancement of WSD and blue-green infrastructure through technical guidance, industry presentations and professional training, including co-authoring and delivering Water New Zealand’s blue-green infrastructure training programme.
