Rafe Maclean
A Registered Architect and Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Architects (FNZIA), Rafe is also a Certified Passivhaus Designer and ATTMA Registered Building Airtightness Tester. With over 30 years of postgraduate experience, he and his team specialises in designing low-energy contemporary architecture that delivers exceptional thermal comfort, approaching each project with a holistic view of environmental stewardship.
Based in Wānaka—where Rafe grew up—the studio has earned multiple awards and publications for its innovative work. Rafe's practice embodies a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, recognising the evolving opportunities in sustainable design. His work is driven by a purposeful dedication to creating architecture that supports both human wellbeing and environmental resilience, contributing to a more sustainable future for generations to come.
