Camilla Rutherford
Camilla Rutherford grew up in Scotland and studied Production Design for film and theatre at Central Saint Martins in London. Drawn by the landscapes of Aotearoa New Zealand, she arrived with her camera and never looked back.
Now based in Tarras on her husband's family farm, where she lives with their two sons, Camilla works as a freelance photographer and filmmaker. Over the past 15 years, she has built a distinctive body of work across both still and moving image, combining a cinematic eye with a deeply narrative approach.
Her practice is driven by a passion for telling meaningful stories. Through editorial, commercial and personal projects, she creates imagery that is visually rich, emotionally resonant and grounded in authenticity. Her work has been exhibited throughout New Zealand and recognised with multiple international awards.
At the heart of Camilla's work is human connection. She has a gift for capturing intimate, unscripted moments that invite viewers into the lives and landscapes she photographs. Balancing cinematic composition with quiet observation, her images feel both timeless and deeply authentic, leaving a lasting emotional impression.
Camilla will be speaking at the Wao Summit 2026 Programme Launch on 22 July 2026 and we are delighted to showcase her work at the Wao Summit 2026.
