The Journey to 2126 research project began with a simple question from the Better Building Working Group. We design and construct buildings that will shape communities for generations, but what will those communities need to thrive a hundred years from now?
The decisions we make today about housing, transport, biodiversity and food systems will continue to influence the places we live long into the next century. Designing for the future starts with understanding the destination. It requires us to recognise the constraints we face, imagine the communities we want to create, and make deliberate choices that move us towards them.
Join Monique Kelly and Toby Hansen as they introduce Journey to 2126, a long term research project exploring what thriving, resilient communities could look like in the year 2126. Joined by local students from the Future Makers programme, this session invites us to see the future through the eyes of the next generation and begin designing places that they, and those who follow them, will be proud to inherit.
